I’ve never been up to Eastwood town F.C. so when my local non league team Radford FC made it to the league cup final against Ainsley Nomads I was looking forward to the trip, I arrived at 6:45pn a hour before kick off the car parks were already almost full but I luckily managed to grab a space and headed to the club house/bar.
It’s a cracking set up at Eastwood the ground is very tidy and modern with a seated stand either side and plenty of standing room, the club house looked like it had two bars I was ushered into the left hand side which had large windows and a terrance that over looked the pitch I headed to the bar for a nice pint of Cafferys & some chilli pork crunch.
The sun was still about and it was a very hot bank holiday Monday evening for kick off.
The first half was quite a somber affair with only a handful of half chances as both sides were equal to each but that would all change after the kick off for the second half.
Both teams made no changes for the second 45 but what ever was said at half time really got Radford fired up and from the restart they began to push and in under 15mins Radford took the lead, the Nomads came back at them and it was shaping up to be a good game till Radford switched up a gear and the goals began to fly in…
0-2, 0-3, 0-4, 0-5, 0-6!!! Radford were one fire!!!
Every time they attacked you thought it would be another goal. When the ref blew for 90mins the crowd erupted Radford were league cup champions.
Overall a great end to a season at least for us Radford supporters.
I’d like to thank everyone at Eastwood FC for being fantastic hosts and wish them good luck for the coming season.
